Terms and Conditions

These terms set out the rules for using the Chaloo app and website. Chaloo is operated by Pratham Mehta, an individual based in India.
The short version
- You must be 18 or older, and hold a valid licence when you ride.
- Chaloo is not an emergency service. Crash detection and SOS can fail. In an emergency, call 112.
- You ride at your own risk. Group rides are organised by riders, not by Chaloo.
- You own what you post. Be respectful, and never share someone's location without their consent.
- Chaloo is free today. Respect points have no cash value. Indian law applies.

These terms are an agreement between you and Pratham Mehta, an individual based in India, who operates the Chaloo app and the website at chaloo.fynshyt.in(“Chaloo”, “we”, “us”).
By creating an account or using Chaloo you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Chaloo.
2. Who can use Chaloo
- You must be 18 or older.
- When you ride, you must hold a valid driving licence for the vehicle, and the vehicle must be registered, insured and roadworthy as Indian law requires.
- You must not have been banned from Chaloo before.
3. Your account
- Give accurate details, and use a phone number or Apple or Google account that belongs to you.
- One person, one account. Don't share it, sell it or let others use it.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else is using it.
- Pick a username that doesn't impersonate anyone or infringe someone's trademark.
4. What Chaloo provides
Chaloo is a community and safety app for motorcycle riders. It includes rider profiles and garages, group rides with live maps, route planning and navigation, ride recording and history, offline maps, offline ride messaging between nearby phones, crash detection and SOS alerts, chat, topics, clubs, place reviews and the Respect programme.
Chaloo is in active development. Features may change, be added or be removed, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We don't charge for Chaloo today.
5. Safety: please read this
Chaloo is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 112.
Crash detection, SOS alerts, live location, offline messaging and navigation are aids that can help. They can also fail, and you must never rely on them as your only safety measure. Among other things:
- they need a charged phone, the right permissions, and usually a mobile or data signal;
- SMS, WhatsApp and push messages can be delayed or not delivered by the networks that carry them;
- crash detection can miss a real crash, and can trigger when there was no crash (for example, if you drop your phone);
- your emergency contacts and other riders may not see an alert in time, or be able to help; and
- GPS positions can be wrong, especially in hills, tunnels and dense cities.
When you ride:
- obey traffic laws and speed limits, and ride sober;
- wear a certified helmet and proper protective gear;
- don't handle your phone while riding. Set up routes and rides before you leave, mount the phone securely, and pull over safely if you need to use it;
- ride within your ability and the conditions, whatever a route or the group is doing.
You ride at your own risk.Group rides, meet-ups and events on Chaloo are organised by riders and clubs, not by Chaloo. We don't check organisers, routes, participants or their vehicles, and we're not responsible for how a ride is run. Decide for yourself whether a ride is safe for you to join.
6. Your content
You own what you post on Chaloo: messages, photos, voice clips, rides, routes, reviews, topics and anything else (“your content”).
You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, copy, display, adapt (for example, resize a photo) and distribute your content, only to operate, improve and promote Chaloo. This licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies other users have already shared, content we must keep by law, and backups that are overwritten over time. We won't sell your content.
You are responsible for your content. Only post what you have the right to share, and only share other people's photos, names or locations with their permission.
7. Community rules
Don't use Chaloo to:
- harass, bully, threaten, stalk or abuse anyone;
- post hate speech, or attack people for their religion, caste, gender, sexuality, region or any other identity;
- post sexual content, graphic violence or anything illegal in India;
- impersonate a person, club, brand or Chaloo;
- promote street racing, stunts on public roads, riding under the influence or other dangerous riding;
- track someone or share their location without their consent;
- raise false SOS alerts, or misuse emergency features;
- spam, scam, or sell things the law doesn't allow;
- post fake reviews or manipulate Respect;
- scrape, reverse engineer, overload or interfere with Chaloo, or access accounts or data that aren't yours.
You can report content or riders in the app. We may remove content, limit features or suspend accounts that break these rules, and we report illegal content to the authorities where the law requires.
8. Respect, levels and Road Captain
Respect points, levels, badges and titles such as Road Captain recognise what riders contribute to the community. They have no cash value, can't be sold, transferred or exchanged for money, and aren't property. We may change how they are earned or what they unlock, and remove points gained by breaking these terms.
9. Paid plans
Chaloo does not sell paid plans today. If we launch them, including any lifetime offers for early adopters, their price and what they include will be shown before you buy.
Purchases will be billed by the App Store or Google Play, under their terms. Subscriptions renew until you cancel them in your store account settings. Refunds follow Apple's or Google's refund policies, and nothing in these terms limits refunds Indian consumer law entitles you to.
Signing up as an early adopter on our website isn't a purchase and doesn't oblige you to buy anything.
10. Third-party services and map accuracy
Chaloo uses services from other companies, including Mapbox (maps, search and navigation), Google (place search and sign-in) and Apple (sign-in, weather and notifications). Your use of those parts is also subject to their terms. Map data comes partly from OpenStreetMap contributors and other open data.
Maps, routes, traffic, road-quality alerts, place information, weather and arrival times can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. A road may be closed, unsafe or not exist. Always follow road signs, the law and your own judgement over the app.
11. Our intellectual property
The Chaloo name, logo, app, website, design and code belong to us or our licensors. You may use the app for your own riding and community use. You may not copy, modify, sell or build on it without our written permission. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
12. Ending your use of Chaloo
You can stop using Chaloo and delete your account at any time from Settings > Account. Our Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data.
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect other riders. Where it's practical and safe, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond. We may also stop offering Chaloo altogether; if so, we'll give reasonable notice where we can.
13. Disclaimers and limits on our liability
Chaloo is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent Indian law permits, we make no promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate or fit for a particular purpose, or that any safety feature will work when you need it.
To the extent Indian law permits, we are not liable for:
- accidents, injuries, deaths or damage to vehicles or property that happen while riding or at rides and events;
- a crash detection, SOS, alert or message that fails, is late or is wrong;
- what other riders, organisers or clubs do or post;
- wrong or outdated maps, routes or place information;
- indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data.
Since Chaloo is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to ₹1,000. If paid plans launch, it becomes the greater of ₹1,000 and what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or anything else that can't be limited under Indian law, or your rights as a consumer.
14. Indemnity
If someone makes a claim against us because of your content, your riding, a ride or event you organised, or your breach of these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent Indian law permits.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Please write to us first so we can try to sort things out. If we can't, the courts at Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida), Uttar Pradesh have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any right you have under Indian consumer law to bring a claim where you live.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Chaloo changes. We'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Chaloo after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree with them, you can delete your account.
